Chicks being sold as Buff Orpingtons and Buckeyes, but they're not...?

The photos are above. You can click on them for a close-up. One of the yellow chicks is developing reddish feathers along the wing shoulders but the other one is still pure yellow. (hmm, could one be a male?) Would you consider those legs white or yellow or tan or nude? I think I need a chicken color wheel.

Oh - yes, Buckeyes do have pea combs. They lay 3 brown eggs/week, are cold hardy, good foragers and apparently will hunt mice. They're docile and will run to humans.

Mount Healthy saw these pics and replied that they (the yellow ones) are either Golden Comets or Amberlinks. I'm trying to confirm with the store if they purchased Amberlinks or not.

Well, the feed store has never sold Amberlinks and their Comets have not come in yet. They insist that these yellow ones are 100% Buff Orpingtons. Now I think they just got the bins swapped and sold the Buckeyes as Orps and vice versa.

Did you ever find out what these actually are, or can someone help me? I hatched a cockerel 4 weeks ago that looks exactly like the first few pictures. He could be buckeye x buff orpington, but not full bred buckeye(also possible full bred orp. but I doubt that for obvious reason).
Thanks,
Madie

I would post a new thread with pics of your cockerel. When posting a pic, provide a good photo of chicken standing, including a side view, and leg color. Also, a good pic of face/comb.

The above OP (lotus bud) hasn't been active for 3.5 years. You can click on a user name and see when they were last active.

Good Luck.
