Chicks outside??

I am planning on put mine out this weekend . they are 6 weeks old and feathered.. I live in S Central Pa and the weather has been in the low 80's during the day and 50's at night. they will have an enclosed area at night. do you think I still need to put a heat lamp on them. I have them on an enclosed porch and have not been using any heat with them for about a week now.

They should be fine. Nights still cool but not cold. As long as they have protection from wind at night I think they'll be fine.

Mine seem to be good tonight. Only lows of 66 this week. Highs of 90 though. Summer is truly here in full force.

Hi there. Was just thumbing through this post because mine are almost 6 weeks old, so I've begun debating whether on not to put mine outside as well. I searched for "broody bucket" but the web was only bringing up ways to break hens from being broody. Os that what you meant or is this something for newly transitioned chicks? Can you provide a link if so? Thanks so much! :D
Look up the "broody bucket" here on BYC.
Its genius.

No, she cuts 1" strip of fleece about twice the diameter of the bucket. On one side, you cut slats to thread the strip through, so you have two dangling pieces for every strip.
The chick's climb in and nestle into the fleece like they would a broodies feathers
I think I remember seeing that... Let me see if I can find it.
