I haven't read through to the end yet, but I had to second this thought. We have 8 dogs, 4 of the smaller dogs are chihuahua mixes and we have 1 full chihuahua (they are a popular breed here in the southwest!) and they are all rescues. The chi-mixes are all sweet dogs and only one is yappy. I sort of think of her as having youngest child syndrome...she has to yap to be noticed! lol
That being said, my favorite dog of the bunch is our tri-ped Trinity who came to us after living at the town dump in El Paso for a couple of years. Her leg had been broken at some point in her life and healed horribly, so when she came to the rescue they took her to the doctor who said it had to come off. I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibro myself, and she is the perfect snuggle buddy.
If you aren't worried about having a full breed dog, look into your local rescue group. I can guarantee they have a dog who needs you as much as you need it.
BTW-Our full chihuahua is not yappy. I have six kids and she has never bit any of them. The youngest was 2 when Opal came...in fact, he called her "Kutt-Kutt" (his name for her-who knows why!) and he carried her around with his arm around her belly forever and still does. I never liked chihuahua's before because the ones I'd known had horrible manners. I now think they can be great dogs if they are well socialized.
So there, instead of giving you my two cents I gave you a buck and a quarter!
