Child At Heart, Monster By Nature (A Shape Shifting RP)

Amaryllis batted her eyes in playful irritation. Excited at the challenge Haley purposed. She stepped into the water without fear, refreshed by it coolness.
Haley watched Amaryllis closely, noting her slight shiver as she touched the water. Of course, shivering was perfectly natural. But she'd likely be doing a heck of a lot more of it than that fifteen minutes from now. Haley dried her hands on her pants once she had drunk her fill, then stepped in the water. The water was numbing and the cold air didn't help at all. Obviously.

Zaine was rather red in the face by now, uncomfortable and unaccustomed to all the attention. "Yeah," was his blunt reply for Dimitri, then he looked to Andorra and said simply, "Fantasy. Tolkien, especially."

Alexis looked at him, her face clearly showing how unimpressed she was with the guy.

Andorra smiled broadly and recited, " I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay..."

Dimitri frowned as he looked to her and asked, "What?"

"What? Am I the only kid who finds label reading a great hobby?" Allen joked. "I really only know it's bad from the nutritional facts my mom forced on me occasionally," he then explained.
"Why did she force nutritional facts for dogs on you? I can get her explaining human nutrition or something similar, but who blurts out what a dog should eat?" Yhgiilra questioned with a subtle smirk.

"Yes,.. I am a wolf hybrid, but thats not what I meant." Laurel stated quietly, unsure how to explain what she meant.
~
"Whatever that means." Aralyn answered sarcastically as she entered the car, locking the door behind her.
:)P For being able to act so well, Aralyn sure can't pretend to be Leverett's friend :lol:)

Madison turned on the bench to face Laurel more fully. "Then what do you mean?" She asked curiously.
~~~
"It means, I can't believe I let you in the car." Leverett surmised for her as he navigated traffic out of the parking garage.
Dimitri frowned as he looked to her and asked, "What?"
"I, uh, actually don't recognize that quote," Zaine said, rather embarrassed. "It's been a long time since I've read for enjoyment, what with fate, or whatever you wanna call it.." he trailed off, unsure how to complete that sentence.
Alexis had a feeling she knew where he was going with that. But rather than give a consoling comment or a reassuring grandmotherly pat on the arm like people who are consoling usually do, she piped in with, "Chicken butt! Get it? You said 'what?' Course, you didn't say 'guess what' but oh well." She looked to Dimitri, her face growing redder by the second. Consolation in somber moments, she was never good with. Distractions always seemed better, in her opinion. And probably only in her opinion.
Andorra had meant to cause Zaine any further discomfort. She was struggling with a way to fix it, when she heard Alexis said, "Chicken butt!" That was all she needed to hear. She snorted aloud and started laughing at the ridiculousness of it. "Oh, wow!" She eeked out between laughs.
Dimitri sighed at Alexis. "What is wrong with females? They don't make sense half the time. " He complained to himself.
"My mom, apparently," Allen mumbled. "Anyway, what kind of dog did you have?" He asked, directing the conversation away from himself.
Zaine forced a laugh as he tried to contemplate what just happened.
Alexis shrugged in response to Dimitri's probably rhetorical question. "What's wrong with your mom," she mumbled.
Andorra finally settled down and wiped her eye on her sleeves. "The quote was from Gandalf." She explained pleasantly.
Dimitri looked to Alexis and shrugged, "Don't know, I've never met her. Orphanage remember?" He replied honestly.
"Ah. Of course," Zaine nodded slowly. "I take it you enjoy Tolkien as well?" He asked her once she had settled down. He still couldn't see the humor that Andorra apparently found in "chicken butt" but he decided to just roll with it.
"Huh? Oh." Alexis was about to explain to Dimitri that she wasn't really asking about or offending his mother, but decided against it. He'd figure out her bad sense of humor eventually.
