Child At Heart, Monster By Nature (A Shape Shifting RP)

Haley smiled back, kindly, she hoped. She was eager to see what this town held, but at the same time, she was terrified. Their life was about to change. Not that it didn't when they escaped 24 hours ago, but this could be a real change. If they were able to find help, then they could, maybe, have a new life. A new start. She pushed away the thought, trying to not become too optimistic about the situation. There were several other factors that would need to be cleared first anyway. Aneurin was somewhere, possibly taken back to the labs already where dozens of other unwilling people were being subjected to whatever Ryker felt like applying to them that day, and he and them needed to be rescued. She glanced over at Amaryllis and wondered what her thoughts were on their situation.

Amaryllis walked in the silence, keeping herself occupied in thought to help overcome her own weariness. She hadn't been healthy before the experiments, but after being awoken from a motionless six years the severe decline of her health was obvious. Her body trembled in threat of collapse, but she willed herself to keep moving without complaint.

"Amaryllis, you're shaking!" Haley said worriedly. She stopped abruptly in her step and searched through the food items for something to give her. "How inconsiderate of me! I've gone on this whole day without much tiredness, but I am ashamed to say it barely crossed my mind that you may be exhausted. You've hardly said a word about it!" She was genuinely sorry about it. The girl hadn't complained once and she had looked well enough, until now.

Aneurin knew the men had been following him, and for how long he wasn't sure; but once he was far enough from Amaryllis he had begun to constantly change directions, so slightly though that know one besides himself would realize it. Ryker would be furious when he once again found out that Aneurin had fooled him. Ryker alone had himself to blame, he made the mistake of giving Aneurin the DNA that made him the genius he was today.
(I'll reply to the other post later, the only reason I replied out of order was because I wanted to play out the post for Aralyn/Laurel before deciding what to reply with ;) )

There would be no fooling the soldiers, they had a clear back trail based upon the satellite data of Anuerin's chip. From there, they'd bring in the scent takers who were specialized to follow the trail back to before they'd started tracking Anuerin's chip. But that would take time since the scent trail would be old. ( ;) )

When the Humvee came to a stop sometime later, Ryker looked out the windshield with mounting anger at the deviousness of his son. Almost on autopilot, he opened the door and stepped out. He had his sidearm in place before he slipped his jacket on. Gram had informed him Anuerin was a short distance beyond the trees. Without any further communications, he started forward through the thick underbrush.

Amaryllis gently laid a hand on Haley's shoulder to calm her. "I'm fine, I just need to rest. I didn't want to worry you, knowing we need to make it to town before nightfall. Let's keep moving. Once we reach the city we can get a goodnight's sleep, than I'm sure in the morning I'll be feeling myself again." She smiled kindly, hoping to ease Haley's disposition.

Laurel cowered suddenly in thought, the similarity of Ryker's anger compared to her father's becoming quit vivid. She wanted to believe Ryker, trust him like he said she could. But how could she trust a man that reminded her of someone who broke her body and soul?

Aralyn closed the trunk and followed after Leverett to her seat on the passenger side. "No?" She said, soundly slightly disappointed, "I know men who would say otherwise." With that she glanced proudly out the window.

Unknowing why Laurel truly cowered, Razeth cursed his actions. "Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." He was quick to apologize.
~~~
"Yes? Well then your taste in companions of the opposite gender is severely lacking in common sense. " Leverett retorted as he started the car to head back to the airport.
(Just incase, when Ryker catches up with Anuerin, please don't use a tranquilizer to knock him unconscious. To me atleast it's not fun or fair :p ;) )
Anuerin heard the Humvee driving nearby with his intensive hearing although he was far ahead of the driver who was unknowingly his father. For the past day he had been followed by men who thought their presence wasn't known to him, so even though he knew eventually his father would come for him, the fact that he was currently being followed was not odd. Besides, he wasn't sure how long it would be before he met his father's wrath; Ryker was, after all, a very busy man. Anuerin used this to his advantage.
Laurel looked to Razeth for the first time with pride; she was proud to know that a man cared for her, a feeling she was completely unfamiliar with. "No. It wasn't you." She quickly assured him.
Arayln's vision blurred in thought as Leverett's words shattered what remained of her heart. "Stop the car." She demanded immediately. "I want to walk."
( His sidearm is a real gun. It's for his personal protection. He doesn't fire it unless he absolutely needs to. No tranquilizers for this guy. :p )
Ryker kept a vigilant eye as he navigated through the rough terrain. He wasn't taking a chance of an ambush for being caught off guard. He debated whether to call out to Anuerin or allow his movements to announce his approach. He decided on no vocalizations and preceded onwards.
Anuerin heard the man follow closely behind him, but figured the man was only tracking him until Ryker had come for him. Oblivious of the man following him, he continued moving forward in silence.
