Dyrus and Vasper quietly, but quietly scaled the stairs to the second floor. The scanned the numbers upon the old weathered doors until the found 217. Vasper tested the lock and it turned easily. He then moved to push it open, only to hsve the chain on the dood stop it short. He growled and used his foot to kick it inward. They both rushed into the room and scanned it's contents. Part disappointed they were gone, but thrilled the hunt was still on.
Dyrus drew in a long breath and said, "It's only a couple hours old. We're close!"
Vasper nodded as he stood by the window. " Their exit strategy it appears. " He said with humor.
"Well come on! Go on little doggy, get out there and earn your kibble! I'll meet you down there." Dyrus said as he left out the front.
Vasper looked at the small window and groaned as he raised it to go out that way. A tight squeeze was expected to say the lest. But once outside, Vasper grinned widely as he started scenting again. He used his arms to slide down the two fights of stairs handrails. Once at the bottom, he then leaned casual against the wall and waited for Dyrus.
When Dyrus came around the corner he was greeted with the sight and, "You're getting slow in your old age Dyrus." Vasper said lazily.
"Oh? Is that so? Well I tell you what, I can still woop your hyena tail in my old age. So you'd best watch it!" He glanced behind him before lowering his voice, "Besides, I had to rally the troops. In case you've forgotten our ever-present mercenary shadow."
The teams had tinned to only a few men now. They'd decided they didn't want to draw too much attention to their actions. So had switched to civilian attire when they'd reached the city. Part of why Dyrus and Vasper had had such a head start. Vasper pushed off the wall and turned to fall in step with Dyrus as he walked past him. Once on the move again, they both actively searched for the girls.
"Whoa, they are starting ti get elaborate with their deceptions." Dyrus observed as the trail branched off into two different directions. One path a little bit older then the other. "A double back to this alleyway, but why?" Vasper thought aloud sometime later. Then Dyrus found a dumpster with some blood droplets upon some trash inside. "She's why. Amaryllis must of holed up here, while the other one scouted out area." Dyrus concluded.
"There's others that were here around the same time. Prepubescent males in their youth. Perhaps they found her, but. " Vasper paused as he followed their trail with his eyes. "They went separate ways. So no matter. The girls go on alone from here."
"I can scent all that too, now quit wasting time on the commentary. They don't need to know about every rat that scurried by. Let's go Tonto! Lone Ranger's inpatient! " Dyrus snapped with a mix of annoyance and impatience.
"Haters going to hate, you're just jealous my nose picks up latent trails better than you. " Vasper ribbed Dyrus playfully. To which he only got an eye roll. But it was enough for him..
