Zoe kept her focus on their surroundings even as she picked out some food then went to sit at a table. In part this was for security and in part it was curiosity and people watching to see how they acted with one another.
Donella reached over and patted her arm, uncertain what to say to offer support for her. Yet another reason she didn't go out among people much. Not even her books could explain how to be a friend well.

Donella looked to her then shrugged a little "I don't know, they haven't caught whoever it was, but I think it's safe enough, so long as you aren't alone."
