Hello! So glad I am now hooked up on this thread1 I would be the other local gal Eden keeps referring too...

Got my eggs today as well. 18 waiting to get placed in the bator! Not sure if I should set them tomorrow night or Friday... Any suggestions? Does waiting the extra day help with settling and fertility?

Pipsnpeeps hard feathered chocolate/mauve AMs - They're here!
PO tried to do a number on them. Day late and, minor squashing and 2 outer box punctures that look like they were done with a fork lift.
Thanks to packing, no broken eggs!

VERY uniform in color.

I would set them after a couple of hours fat-side-up. They sat at the PO, and I don't really like delaying longer than a bit.

BBS Ameracauna eggs from a breeder with Blehm, Shaffer, and Smith lines before the end of the month to work on continued conformation and egg color improvement crossings with added genetic diversity for both lines of chocolate/mauves.

First, the hatches

and see how birds develop as they mature

Looking forward to input from those with more experience invested in this project, particularly Chookschicks and Pipsnpeeps who were kind enough to share thier work.

Hatch day is the 30th for the silkieds and the 2nd for the hard feathered chocolates...

Getting close!
Everything under broodies so no idea how it's going yet but I'll pull and candle on day 18 when I move to the hatcher.
MsChickenlittle's silkieds should hatch the same day.

Candled my silkied eggs and pulled 7 out. A few were clear and a few had bloodrings. That's not bad though considering they were shipped! 7 more days!!!

Sorry I'm AWOL- this is the time I have to work unacceptable hours and ZERO sleep, so everything suffers...house, kids, homeschool, hubby, farm...everyone is dissatisfied and I'm doing the least possible to keep all the warm bodies depending on me alive, but that's about it...

I did candle yesterday and I have a couple of dozen I set REALLY old cooking away. That's good. I have 6 dozen more to set that I didn't have time to post or sell...but I don't know that I have room to set them.

*sigh* I'll be eating a bunch, I guess, as I won't ship if they aren't fresh.

NEED MORE HOURS IN A DAY!
