Christian Topic: Bible Translations - which do you like?

When people say "Born Again" it is both meant, and taken as several
different things. What I would like to know is what does it mean to you?

A friend of mine and some theologians I enjoy listening to have stated
that since I have proclaimed Jesus is my Lord and Savior that I'm born
again. I was actually an athiest then agnostic from my late teens to late
twenties. That was a sad time.

Then there is the perception that "Born Agains" are bible thumping radicals
promoted by secular groups, the media, and just ignorant people in
general.

As a member of the Roman Catholic church I have to bite my tongue all
the time but that is a different subject.

Most of my friends that I discuss religeon with are members of other
churches, not Catholic.

Yes PC, I agree. That's why I kind of backed away from saying yes to "born again". Isn't that awful?

its true PC... unfortunately, alot of people view "born again" that way

I say "born again" meaning I was raised catholic, didnt agree with alot of things in the teachings, sought out different religions, studied them, then stopped going to church for YEARS during my teen/adult life; then found religion again not too many years ago(as did hubby) so... I am therefore.. "born again into Jesus"

does that make sense?

Hey Buff I'm the same with "Catholic". We do live in the Northeast.

Aren't these just names anyways? Christianity is our identity and I'm
never afraid to say "I'm a Christian" and say it with pride.

yeah.... and why is that?? I've always found that odd...

its sort of like "dont say your religious preference..for shame for shame" but we can say "we're Christians" and no one says anything..

hmmm... strange indeed.

New King James with the new living translation as a back up. And a biblical map. And a highlighter and a pad of paper for all the questions I want answered when I get there.

We are born once with no knowledge. Once knowledge of Jesus has been taught, we have a choice. Turn away or be born again as a Christian willing to follow His teachings. Second birth, so to speak......

yes but... no matter how many times you turn "away" the opportunity is always afforded, at any time, to return

So therefore, you can be "born again" at any time in your life....

or thats how I've always been taught/raised. I stopped attending church at times in my life but I never stopped believing in God - ever.
