Encore, encore!!Twas the morning before lockdown
For some of the babies
The others were growing; trying to be more than maybes
Each hour that passed they grew more and more
Until it was time to lock up the door
They were biding their time to get their pip on
Hatching out those shells and taking a yawn
Cause hatching is hard work for someone so small
Chicks come out looking like drowned rats yall
In a few days there will be new life in the bators
We can't wait to see all the new lil taters
This is the end of this weird cheesy rhyme
Now we wait for the babies. We have nothing but time.
Edited to add this:Go Green Ranger go!
(Aka Grinch!)
I feel more prepared for a staggered hatch a week apart than just the 2 days. Its always best to turn eggs until day 18, but technically development wise, you can stop turning eggs at day 15. So if these younger eggs fall into this category of day 15, I'd just go into lockdown on day 18 for all these eggs. Don't jack up the humidity until day 19 so the younger eggs aren't subject to too much moisture yet. It should all work out. I don't like to stagger hatches but lots of people do it with no issues.
I didn't get a very Chickmassy doodle for it, I'll think on it and maybe figure out something more carol-esque!Today's posted song has to do with the age old gender question, not sure what kind of pic that one could have anywayremembering that this is a family friendly site

SO sweet, well done! This story continues, eggs snug in their 'bator,
Dreaming of hatching just a few days later.
Tink has questions on this hatch of risks,
What could be better, this, this or this?
What can be done that's best for the eggies,
With ever growing beaks, eyes, and leggies?
We're hoping for peeping two days apart
With cheering and kind words sent from warm hearts.
Please keep on growing you wee little meeps
The Christmas world needs you to fill it with peeps!
Since you have another machine, this makes most sense, then you can control each environment separately as needed.I feel more prepared for a staggered hatch a week apart than just the 2 days.
Would this be a bad idea:
Move the white silkies to the NR360 (preheating now with a towel around the lid but not blocking the vents)
Leave all the further along silkies in the Brinsea:
- Prep the incubator for lockdown (add a mat the the floor and an empty cup to add water to later to increase the humidity)
- Monday PM: Remove the splash from the turning baskets and set on the mat.
- Wednesday AM: Remove all turners and increase the humidity to 70%
The first eggs I set should go into lockdown about 24 hours before the splash hatch. Depending on a ton of factors so this could be more or less. Heck, the splash could hatch early and then I'd be late on increasing the humidity.
I'll candle them after dark tonight, maybe that will give my novice self a better idea on what the best solution will be.
It's perfect!I didn't get a very Chickmassy doodle for it, I'll think on it and maybe figure out something more carol-esque!
