When I first moved here a few years back, I was house-sitting for my parents. The 17 yr ones were in full throat. I was out on the back porch, having let Dad's hounds out one last time for the day and attempting to phone my husband on my cell. "What in the name of Bob is that racket, I can hardly hear you!" he said. I had to end the call and dial him back from inside the house! The every year ones are too bad. The 17 yr. ones are horrible- their din is so loud and continuous that the news said they could cause hearing loss in as little as one hour. Plus if you knocked them off your arm they scream. My son missed them last time because he was out of state for the summer. Which makes me realize we should be due for them next year. Oy vey!!![]()
