city chicken breeds need help

[Attack Chicken]

I have 2 white leghorn girls. Their pretty quiet except when they lay an egg. Their great layers to. I still get 1 egg from each of them each day. I also have a roo and he is LOUD.
I checked with the neighbors before I got him and they like him.

My stars (red and black, both) are pretty quiet. I work night shift and therefore am asleep during their playtime- average to large in-city backyard- and don't ever hear them unless my husband is bringing them snacks.

Would love to hear of a roo that's quiet, as well- I'll be checking this thread!

My Silkie hen and pullets are super-quiet and great little foragers to boot. My standard Cochin girls and Australorp girls are quiet and wonderful layers. (And did I mention that they are gorgeous?!)
My Silkie roos are LOUD! They crow when it is dark out - even though they are in a windowless building. I look like the Krypt Keeper this morning because they cut into my sleep.

My Cochin Bantams are very docile and quiet, I have been able to keep a Roo in town ,( inside) I play the oldies really loud!!!!!!!!!
Am going to try keeping another this Spring.

PS yes the Seramas have a lower crow, but my little roo never shut up AM to PM .

okay I think I'll try cochins. I still want to hatch so I'll try a roo and if it don't work then I'll take him and a few hens back up to the farm. Are anyone selling cochins eggs right now?

I don't really remember the black cochin banties of my youth as being particularly quiet. But, I had better hearing back then

My Sebright rooster seemed incapable of crowing loudly, however.

Of the standards I have now: The Barred Rock pair is constantly making noise. One coos around my feet - she goes on and on, even if I just open the coop door and look at 'em. The other is just plain noisy - the neighbors can attest to that!

The BR’s have been around before and I went back to the Australorps. I can't say I dislike the BR because they are good layers and nice hens but the Aussies have always been a quiet bunch - even when my hearing was better
