City Chickens in Liverpool

Welcome! The only other Liverpudlian I know is David Lister, but I don't think he really counts.

Wasn't he a chicken once?

Anyway, welcome to the forum. Yes, being here is addictive, and having chickens is addictive. I don't know how your fellow suburbanites will feel about having chickens in the backyard, but I do know that some city folk over here in the US consider it just as weird. I live in the country, and my family still thinks it's weird. I don't hear them complaining when their eating the eggs I give them.

If you only have two now, watch and you'll see...you'll have more, eventually.

I am sad to say that my two girls have been killed!

by one of our pet dogs!he escaped from his run and managed to somehow get through the chicken wire and up into the coop.

I have never felt so gutted in all my life! we all got so attached to the girls.

Sorry, folks often read the original post then reply, probably the tragic news was missed.

OOps! Lesson learned. Time to work on plan B, unless you are going to accept the setback and let the dog win! Reinforce the coop and find 2 more sweethearts. You can do this! Shake it off. My dog killed my 1st pet rooster, he hasn't touched another since they free-range with him. I have never made another pet chicken though.

Welcome,

I am also in the UK, I live in South Wales near Cardiff. I have also recently started, I have 4 chickens in my garden and 2 of the 4 are laying now.

What a wonderful thing to do with your children. Good for you.

Jena.
