OK thanks. I do think there a little longer than I would like. I have some clippers so I can trim them tomorrow. So I trim them about 3 mm past the vein. Kind of like doing a rabbits claw.

Please dont cut. Use a pet nail grinder and take it down alittle at a time. This way you dont cause her to bleed. Theres a post from just the other day of someone accidentally cutting the nail too short. On the legs use some coconut oil or mineral oil and it will help bring the scales back down.

if she bleeds it won’t kill her and she will get over it in a day!

I've been using vaseline on her legs. They still look a little rough but the mites have gone. I haven't got a nail grinder. I've clipped rabbits and Guinea pigs plenty of times but I've never done a hen! She is good and just let's me do most things to her so I think if I'm careful with clippers I'll be fine.

Just be prepared and have some bloodstop ready as a just in case.
No the oil just help moisten the scales which helps bring the back to where they should be. I use it on my nieces show brahma. Hes had new feathers growing in on his feet so they lift at that spot, just gotta keep his legs pretty for show.

Yes i've heard of people using it. I personally havent I have bloodstop on hand at all times. I've used flour before as it was all I had on hand and it has worked.

They don't look overly long to me, but you could take the tips off if you want with dog nail clippers. She has clear nails so risk of bleeding is next to nonexistent. Just don't clip the quick and you're good to go.

Thanks for all the advice. It's just a wonder how come her claws don't seem to be wearing down so much. It had been fairly wet and muddy but the coop and run is concrete slabs.
