hello friends in chickendom
i have a new coop and run, and the ladies are loving it.
any thoughts on how to clean poop in the run, whose floor is small pea gravel, and how often?
advice/experience appreciated as always

I put down a layer of pea gravel and then covered it with a couple of inches of construction grade sand. It's like a giant litter box, I even use a kitty litter scoop to clean it every couple of days... I would think it would be a little difficult to clean the poo out of pea gravel.

hello too!

I also have a pea shingle run and i hose it down every night. It washes the poo away and leaves it clean. I also use a rake to mix it up a bit. Pea shingle is the best option but i also have a grassed bit.

I don't know... I have about an inch of wood chips and the poo vanishes. I sprinkle DE on it once in awhile because I feel like I should be doing something.

I let the chickens go in the bunny coop now, and the bunny poo has vanished too. I can't remember the last time I had to clean the bunny's litter box. It makes me afraid to eat the eggs.
