I know this is an old thread. Since our crazy weather this year and the blizzard (crazy getting progressively worse each year) I was searching this topic. My reason is I want to plan for a future of chicken keeping, plan my coop, food for chickens etc. based on what I think I’ll be dealing with.
Here is my best assumption after readearching. We will all face more extreme conditions. The magnetic field is getting weaker faster and may be flipping. That means less protection from the sun. Global warming will not stop by any effort of ours. I try to live a life as good for the planet as I can because I love nature, but the problem is bigger than co2 emissions. You can read how past magnetic flips cause sever weather changes in the past.
With that in mind, I’m preparing things for my chickens as best as I can. Extreme winters for now and extreme summers.
