Today when I took my dogs out, Millie my hen came along and walked around with us while my dogs did their thing. As I was taking the dogs back into the house, for some reason as I reached the garage I turned to watch Millie.

All of a sudden Millie began to book, first I thought she was chasing a grasshopper, but she was running too fast for that. She ran under my truck then into the garage and got under the sink on a box and laid her head down. I looked to see what was chasing her and saw a red-tailed hawk land in one of the pine trees.

I went over to Millie and pet her and gave her a hug. I put her in a dog crate for the rest of the day. I let her out when I fed dinner to the horses and she went over to her nest, where she lays and spent the night there. Behind the big bag of chicken feed.
