I take it you are in the "I got mine sucks to be you" group. Yes it is America. Land of the free, Greedy and selfish. Of course that applies mostly to the USA. Sometimes in addition to being free, greedy and selfish people forget there are other countries on this continent.

Which Willy Wonka do you like best? Gene Wilder or Johnny Depp.

I happen to be a bigger fan of Gene Wilder, but Johnny is not bad.

As far as other countries in the world, You are right. Think about that.

Ugh----

Not to start an argument, but you need to tell your friend to go to NAPA auto parts, they got remanufactored starters for 1989 pick up trucks priced anywhere from $69.95 to $99.95 depending on make and model. Ford, Dodge, and GM available. Didn't check the foriegn stuff.

I am no fan of the Clunker thing or any other gov program, but it is claims like this one that make people shake their head.

I guess I am selfish - I have worked hard for everything I have and I am not about ready to share. I am not a totally selfish person though, because I give and help people that I want to, people that would appreciate the things I do. I don't forget other countries either, I just believe that we should take care of "our own" first, and not in a manner in which we are forced to.

We are all given the same chances in our lives, it's what we do with them that makes us or breaks us.

Well, call me selfish too. We work hard for everything we have. My husband works out of state, so my kids and I are without him at least 3/4 of the year, if not more. It's hard, but it's what we do to make a living. So forgive me if I'm not so willing to give away the money he works so darn hard for.

No doubt unless enough of American Taxpayers wake up and smell the coffee. It blows my mind that some people can't see the writing on the walls because they are in such "awe" our our current administration. Gee, has Princess Pelosi given up her weekly trips back home to California? If that isn't a huge burden and waste, I don't know what is. Why can't people understand basic simple math, oh wait I know the answer - it's that "new" math they are being taught. The one where you have to spend money to make money or the one where if you have 3 kids and 7 apples, how would you divide it equally - the "obvious answer is that each kid would get 2 and the one that needs it the most would get the remaining one. Wake up people - we are not playing with Monopoly money, but the money of our children, grandchildren, etc.

What burns me so bad about this is other countries are supporting the move to EV(electric vehicles). Other than the loss of taxes from gas sales why was this not the time to put our money into the conversion of our factories to EV, or supporting with grants new companies to make what we actually need.

Ohhh wait I forgot Obama with a EO blocked the building of the plants that would be needed to support the infrastructure for EV.

EIGHT YEARS!
So much could have been done to get us away from foreign oil and onto the EV plan in the last eight years. But NOTHING was done. And this is now Obama's fault? Listen. I voted for the guy. I thought he was the better choice after 8 YEARS of Bush. Do I agree with everything Obama has done? Nope. But the one thing I can not stomach is the fact that Bush did nothing but destroy this country in the 8 YEARS he was in office. Yet it seems like many people think he did nothing wrong.
I guess what I saw and lived through was an alternate reality.

BTW. I currently own a Hyundai, which although has had it's issues is a much better car than my previous Chevy truck was. Or my Mercury Cougar was. Or the Ford farm truck was. My next car is going to be a Chevy Camaro(2010) Yes I am getting an auto LOAN for it *gasp*
But I know that the cars already out there are having some "issues" as well.
I love my country. But I am not so blinded by flag waving yahoos to see that both "sides" are at fault over all. And that it didnt begin within the last few months.

Now I remember the reasons why I stopped coming to this board.

And Clinton did nothing 8 years before that, neither Clinton or Bush hold the white house now. Obama does and it is up to him to not waste tax dollars on bovine scatology schemes as the cash for clunkers. All of that money should have gone towards EV, if it is going to yanked from our pocketbooks. At least then it benefits everybody not just a few.

Had a few more minutes, so I thought I'd check out some of the advertised prices.

2010 Mazda 3 11,995 after clunker

2009 Suzuki Grand Vitara 10,995 -- SX4 sedan 7,995 after clunker

2009 Chevy Cobalt 9,999 after clunker

2009 Silverado L5 16,495 after clunker

2009 Chrystler 300 18,990 after clunker

2009 Ford Focus 14,995 after clunker

2009 Ford F-150SXT supercab 17,998 after clunker

These here don't say nothing about clunker money---
2009 Nissan Altima 18,465

2009 Nissan Versa 11,495

Don't have an ad for Kia in the Baton Rouge paper but right off hand I'd say that Kia would be stone dead stupid to try to sell a bottom of the line model for 30k. Any one tall enough to stumble off the street could get any one of these cars for way less that 30k, even if they didn't use the cash clunker program.

No matter what side of the debate you are on, you have to recognize bull for bull and bolonga for bologna.
