Cocci?

Hello,
We may have the same problem. One of our chickens has a white face and a droopy tail. She has her face tucked under her wing most if not all of the time now. We have recently moved her from a concrete based run to a soily one.she is looking really old. Is this the same problem?

Welcome to BYC. By changing her location to soil, she may well have be exposed to a new strain of cocci. Corid (amprollium) won't hurt her to give a 5 day course. I would use the severe outbreak dose in this link: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/818879/updated-corid-and-amprol-amprolium-dosing

How is your chicken now Beckett?

unfortunately she died last night. we couldn't get any amprollium and so we had to make do with diatom powder until it arrived but it got here too late.

Sorry for your loss...

A few of our girls have been acting lethargic, two in particular. I noticed bloody poop yesterday. I thought it was due to the leftover eggs Benedict I'd given them. Thinking the butter might have upset their tummies. I've since decided to go out a buy some Corid as a precaution. (only one of our girls is acting sick now) My question is, is it still ok to eat the eggs while there on the Corid? Will it cause my family any problems?

It *is* safe to eat the eggs when using Corid.

Sorry to jump in here on your thread, but I have a group with Araucanas and Orpingtons that I suspect have coccidiosis. Some just gasp and others have a cough/sneeze, runny eyes, and there are some with blood in their faeces. I sent my husband to the livestock store and they sold him some drops called cocci vet by Vetafarm. It says for pigeons and ornamental birds. I googled it and it actually says it can treat all birds. The active constituents are amprolium 80g and Ethopabate 5.1g, the bottle is 50ml. Does anyone have experience here. I am in Australia and I hear you all talk of corrid, but the store didn't know anything else to prescribe. Advice ANYONE? :he
