It depends on the hen. Some will be very protective, while others very placid.I would also like to know, do Pekin bantam hens get aggressive to their owners once they hatch eggs?

Quote: My hens usually will give me a sharp peck on the hand if I don't cover their eyes first, before checking the eggs/chicks.

Where are you located? I think Britain is the only place where bantam Cochins are referred to as Pekins.
I want a protective hen but not one that attacks me every time I walk in the coop.
Okay. I hope mine go broody♡A broody hen might peck you if you bother her when she is sitting, she probably wont attack you as soon as you enter the coop.
Some of mine peck me if i check under them, others really dont mind. It depends on the hen. None of my birds will attack me for no reason, if they did, they would be gone.
As promised, my two new blue bantam Cochins from Jamie Matts. They have been traveling for two days through the mail, and I took the pictures just two hours after I got them home. There was a big scarlet macaw making a lot of noise on their left and a pit bull to their right--so they were understandably a little excited. They are a nicer color--a clearer blue--than the pictures suggest. Not the best pictures--dirty birds right out of the shipping box--but here they are. I'm very happy with them.
