Thank you for sharing.. <3

I love them. I have bunch cockerels all of them lap chickens. The only way I will get rid of any extras is if I knew they got to a pet home. Only got one pullet from that hatch shes my avatar pic.

I am referencing the lacing because of the previous post where someone posted that the bird in the second picture was one of the best representative of the LB color they have seen, it does not have good lacing and has white feathering on the feet. I prefer a medium color blue. I have a few modern game and they are darker lemon blue than what I am breeding for in my cochins.

the statement I made was that it was the closest to thing to actual lemon Blue I had seen in cochin, not that it was teh best Lemon Blue I had seen. It is still a ways away from a real lemon blue and I try not to judge too much from a photo as they never tell teh whole story

I only commented on color and not the type, also. A lemon blue roo just as a brown red should have lacing on the chest. Lemon lacing for the lemon blue and red lacing in a brown red.

Here is my roo, he has decent lacing.

I will try and get a front picture of lemon blue rooster.

there is no need, I am very familiar with the color requirement. Although you may want to make clear what lemon blue is for others.
He is a decent example of brown red but still have shafting issues to work through, is his wing Bow laced or solid?

I'd like to make certain that I know exactly what shafting is, it refers to the center shaft being a LIGHTER? color than the rest of the feather, or is it darker? I know that the feedback that I have received on my Birchen roo is that he has shafting. He's on page 4.

Nancy, in all the pics of shafting, and in my own birds, I don't think I've ever seen any where the shaft is darker. I would be interested to know what causes shafting, and what is the proper way to breed away from it. I'm assuming shafting is the result of lack of pigment in the shaft, and not a result of poor feather quality causing the shaft to be more visible?

sjarvis00,

Me stating that I will be posting a picture of my lemon blue rooster was not for your benefit, it was for the board to see and discuss. I appreciate your input on my BR rooster, as none are perfect but he is a very good BR and a define character, I have shown him and he did well winning BOB over excellent quality solids. I will be at Nationals and hope to see some excellent cochins, especially in the brown red and lemon blue colors. Keep the pictures coming, I for one love looking at them.
