Bantam Chickens on a Pocket Prairie
Ok, just called!! I feel like I am on an investigationI wasn't even aware that pet stores sold chickens.
Call them and ask where they get them from. That will help you immensely.

It is a pet/feed store.. so they have some farm related items, and sell birds as well (chickens, parrots, etc.)I wasn't even aware that pet stores sold chickens.

I have been googling, and it must be a custom color they developed at Ideal, no one else mentions it. I'll have to post some pics through her stages. The other two chicks match up to their white and mille fleur d'uccle!! I am so excited!!Mystery solved! Great work detective.
She does look like a d'Uccle. I've just never seen that color.
Definitely post pics when they get a bit older and I'll do the same!I have been googling, and it must be a custom color they developed at Ideal, no one else mentions it. Thank you for the tips! I have been racking my brain. I am trying to accommodate the indoor coop and supplies based on size of bird.. so being a D'Uccle vs cochin means they can fit through the coop doorways without me having to hack saw it!!
So my silkies also are from there, and I have a partridge and a grey.. they are all going to be so beautiful!!
Yes, they change so quickly too!!Definitely post pics when they get a bit older and I'll do the same!
Some hatcheries have a LOT of "purebred" chicks that look more like mixes. I don't think they're all true mixes ... but it does appear that little to no attention is paid to standards. Unfortunately, that's especially true of a lot of hatchery silkies. With that in mind, if you're not planning to show, it shouldn't matter. Regardless of their heritage, they're pretty babies - and if they retain that sweet disposition, you're a winner!Ok, just called!! I feel like I am on an investigationSo they said they get them from Ideal Poultry, but the shipment just says "assorted bantam", it doesn't specify what is in them.
