COCHIN ROOSTER DOESN'T ROOST..ANYONE ELSE WITH THIS..

Our beautiful Feathered footed
Banty cochin always
sleeps in the corner of the coop and
digs into the wood shavings,
He is 8 months old and hugh.
all our ladies go to the roost.
But he is the first one into the coop.
may be we all have roos that are early
to bed and early to rise..
Just as ours is. LoL

My LF Cochins are too big to feel comfortable on a roost. My younger smaller LF still roost, but the adults do not. I put a roost low on the ground and they do not use it, my Bantam Cochins roost but I think the Standards are just to big to feel comfortable.

I agree with you Lockedheart, some larger breeds (standard Cochons and Brohmas) are just to big to feel comfortable on the perches. Although for the youngsters of other breeds it takes time for them to move from the bottom of the coop up to the perches.

My big cochin boy wouldn't roost until I put in a roost that was a 2x4 flat side up so he had enough room to balance his substantial self. It took a couple times of setting him on it, before he got the idea it was a good spot.
