Danny, I need to get a picture of the little cutie of mine that I hatched out of your eggs. (A cockerel, too, wouldn't ya know it!) Maybe that'll be on my agenda for tomorrow, get some good pictures

Hi guys, (question from OZ) I have a 12 year old cochin bantam rooster, looking after a mixed lot of hens extremely well. His harem consists of 3 cochin bantam hens, 1 x Rhode Is. Red, 1 x very strange aracauna thing?/ 1 x HUGE plymouth rock. (that mating scenario is pretty hilarious!). Ok my question, he now has 9 chicks with one of the cochins, at LEAST 3 are/ will be roos. Will sibling roos coexist on a free range basis, will they find a "pecking order" and only have occassional fights or will it be a constant fight for dominance?
The chicks are only 5wks old so my old boy will keep them under control for the next 6 months or so but I cannot imagine he can go on too much longer , although VERY robust (jockey riding plymouth!). I want to keep all my roos at least for 12 months, preferably for good,will the "brothers" co exist?

I'm trying to ban myself from adding new varieties,,,,,BUT

If I throw my lonesome buff roo in with my barred hens, could I get a start on that color????

they should. i've had multiple roos together free ranging for a while and after the initial 'who's in charge' they all get along just fine. all my cochins currently are penned for breeding but will be turned out here soon, so i can use the pens for other breeds.
