Cochin Thread!!!

Couldnt help but share this picture, I knew you guys would enjoy it. This is a pullet I had planned to sale, she is very nice but her feet arent as yellow as I would like for them to be. Well, she is always one of the first birds to greet anyone at the coop, and will not allow you to be around her and you not acknowledge that she is present. This bird is a hoot, and I dont think she is going anywhere, my Grandmother LOVES this bird. This picture, to me, really shows how tame and docile she is.

(Excuse my ugly mug. Especially the scruff, its been a while since I have decided to shave. Lol)

Here is a picture of her, and a couple pics of her and another pullet I have who CRAVES attention.

Darling!

Thanks everyone, I sure am proud of them. Had a salesman (Grandpa bought some steaks) tell my Grandparents that they were the coolest prettiest chickens he had ever seen. But, then again If you had never seen a chicken that looked like this you may say that about several breeds, I know I probably would.
Casey, I may not like the white Cochins, nor do I particularly like the frizzles, but you have some very gorgeous birds. I am seriously considering axing my MFC project and picking up whites now!
Honey, you need any help with that you let me know. I hatched 40 Whites this year, and I do NOT plan to do it again this Spring. Lol. If your interested then, jst get with me and we will work something out.

Hi everyone, I recently acquired a quad of SQ white cochins, and I'm in love! These guys have sparked me into changing up EVERYthing. And I'm now in the process of selling out my other breeding groups in hopes of having only cochins(and of course my exsiting egg layers :D) I hope to hatch/buy what I want now and have them all grown up by spring. And then hopefully do my first show! Hoping to buy MF project cochins, black, blue and splash!. So does any one here ship blue hatching eggs?

Sorry Everyone . . . no subscription emails again, so I thought the thread was being quiet. So I just went thru and tried to catch up.

BO - So glad to see you still follow along, even if we don't hear from you very often. Your years of expertise are always welcome and appreciated, and needed!

CLARE - Almost didn't recognize you with the new avatar!!

CASEY - I have yet to see one of your whites that I wasn't drooling over.

SELF BLUES - Until I learned that the true meaning of "Self" was that they breed true (as opposed to the Andalusian Blue), I used to think it meant they were solid blue (no lacing, no dark hackles, etc). That came from my love of Bearded Irises, where a "Self" of any color means that the standard and falls are all of one uniform color.

TEMPERMANT - Does anyone notice a difference in the tempermant when the chicks are hand raised in a brooder vs. with their hen? Mine all love to cuddle, and especially seem to love to have their breasts stroked, but that wasn't true of chicks I've let the hen hatch and raise.

PET PEEVE - Punnett Squares are driving me crazy lately!

JUST FOR FUN - I bought the following on eBay last week. I'm not from Texas, but what the heck!

Gail, love the plate and yes chicks raised with hens are wild compared to brooder babies
