This is the only Buff Columbian Pullet from spring hatch  that survived this summer. I like her type and most things about her except her wing pattern is weaker than I want to breed. The male is a 1 year old. The Silver Penciled Pullet is one that has hatched since late July. I have a few others growing out but won't know what I have for quite a while.

She is a beauty Craig!(the buff columbian) I am not familiar with the wing pattern.

Goodness knows I'm not an expert on BC's, but I love her type, and her nice, wide feathers really stand out. And thanx for posting the pic of the Silver Penciled!! I know we don't see as many Partridge as we'd like to, but I'd like to see AT LEAST as many Silver Penciled as Partridge.

Cute chicks! Watch the feathering on the middle toes - if they don't have it as chicks, it usually doesn't get any better (in my experience).

ok, for those who are familiar with the lucasville show, what time does it open on saturday for people shopping for more birds?

This bird is not perfect, but its a decent example.

To all Cochin people that want to know about Columbian wing pattern. This a good example shared by Tim from the Brahma page.. Black primary with black shaft and a white leading edge. The secondary look lik half and half but look closer. The Secondary should have about a 60% black including shaft and a clear line across where the black and white meet. If it is a Buff Columbian replace the white with buff and you have the desired pattern.

Oh thank God I thought something was wrong with my computer! I don't know how you did that but thanks Craig!~so~when it is closed you would see more black exposed?

I have a B@W ABA standard and APA standard books but they are old. I am thinking I better join uo to CI too soon!

No more white. the black tucks under the white on the overlap. You will see some black but not a lot. Look at my avatar and see what I mean.

Quote: thanks, yes i saw that the hall opened at 6:30, cooping until 9, judging begins at 9:30. i also see where sale coops will be available for $2 per hole. but what i don't see, is what time the swap portion is open to the public. i'm not exhibiting, i'm shopping. so does it open at 6:30 when the hall opens? or at 9 or 9:30? the last poultry show i went to was close to 20 years ago, and it was a state fair.

most of the large events i've been to in years past, they open early for vendors/exhibitors, and to the public at a later time. so i have no clue how THIS show works...
