Yes Gail, we were talking about you!
Hoping I can get some help on here. I have a blue mottled cockerel that has never been a healthy bird from about 3 months on. At one point I thought I would have to put him down. He has trouble walking and falls down a lot. A few weeks ago he started improving, is walking much better and has put on better weight. I have supplemented his water with electrolytes and vitamins a couple of times a week. I feed him medicated chick starter, he has been wormed and occasionally given antibiotics.
Does anyone have any ideas on what to give this little guy to help him be a healthy bird? He is the brother to my blue mottled pullet I lost to a wasp sting.
Those in the fridge are no good for hatching. !st eggs laid are rarely fertile. I sure won't hatch eggs this time of year. If the pullet does it then fine but personally I would not use an incubator unless I wanted to deal with chicks in the house for 4-6 weeks. That's just me.Posted on FB, so some may see this there but I am soooooo excited but also at a cross roads as to what to do right now (this time of yr)
WOOHOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!! One of my bantam cochin girls is laying eggs as of two days ago!!!!!! Pretty sure it's this girl in the pic. Soooooooooo excited, 99% sure they are fertile (daddy could be barred and/or blue molted (Buddha = avatar)) and want to leave eggs in nest and/or hold a few for incubator BUT I just really don't want to deal with little ones right now. I know they will be beautiful babies, what to do, what to do?????
p.s.if i do decide to go with trying to hatch some..... the first two eggs (laid wed & thurs.) have been put in the fridge, would it be too late to take them back out to her nest? or should I just wait for her to lay others and see if she will sit on them?
Thank you for the advice, opinion & compliment. Those in the fridge are no good for hatching. !st eggs laid are rarely fertile. I sure won't hatch eggs this time of year. The bird in your avatar and the above picture sure are nice looking birds.
