Cochin Thread!!!

Monte Cristo! Her barred coloring is starting to come in even in her little feet. I am having a hard time finding pictures of barred cochins for comparison. Does anyone here raise these or know about them?

Hi, here are a couple from a SA show in Tzaneen in 2012.

not at the moment...I still haven't even hatched a single chick for my cochins yet...they are just old enough to start laying two months ago so I waited so they weren't new pullet eggs...then i waited for them to be fertile...then they all went broody...seems like they have be broody for a month already...

Crap, that's the same problem I'm having. :/

Does this girl have vulture hawks? She was the only pullet I got from Duane Urch I was planning on keeping as the other two have spilt wing. She's around 4 months old.

I just got some Cochins about 2 weeks ago! They are the prettiest things! They guy I bought them off of said they were almost a year old.

I'm pretty sure this one is a Black Cochin cause I don't see any blue in her.
Does anyone know why the feathers would be missing off of her face?
They don't pick at each other and don't scratch like they have lice.

Your rooster and the Black hen are not full blood Cochin. The middle toe should be covered with feathers. The feet are the correct color...could be 75%.
The blue hen appears to be 100%.

the broody momma is one of my blue mille fleur girls, from a mille fleur roo and one of Mandy's blue partridge girls I got last summer.

Blue partridge? Pictures please! I've been looking for these! Do you happen to be selling eggs for them?

Thank you! I love cochins. I have not shown but hopefully In a year or two I can show and will have some good birds to show.

You got the wrong breed if you didn't want them to go broody! Haha because they will go broody at the snap of a finger! Haha

Yes, I know cochins are very broody. I guess what I should have said, was that I try very hard to break them..... This one is especially Persistant I finally gave in to her.
