I have to brag on my sweet beautiful boy from Lynne in CA: He jumps up in my lap and kind of nuzzles his head into me and takes naps....This pretty boy has me wrapped around his big feathered feet.....
My hubby is working on building me an incubator, so I can put my passion for genetics and producing unusual colors to the test.....I have done this in my dog breeding for years and years...I hope to be ready to start working really seriously on this in early 2011, for now I am studying the inheritance of color in poultry....
Are there any others out there working on unusual colors in Standard Cochins? I'd love to have a few others to work with

I took a few pics today and thought I'd post a couple.
Large White Pullet. She's still molting in, but shaping up nicely.

Partride Bantam Pullet. I took a pic from above and the side to show the penciling. It's not as refined as it needs to be. Still needs to be crisper. They do get better as hens though. She's a pretty nice bird with good type and okay markings.

I was reading that sometimes GLs are used to 'clean up' the lacing in the Partridge. (Although she doesn't look like she needs any help!) I'm still trying to get a handle on this idea, as the Partridge only has Pg, but the GL's have the added Ml and Co genes. Maybe it just has to do with strengthening or purifying the Pg??
On the Breeder Page here on BYC, the pic of the Standard "Partridge" is actually a Golden Laced, so I hope people don't get the wrong idea.
