Thankyou! Big Daddy weighs a ton! He has never made a debut at Frederick because he never fails to be in a molt for that particular show

Wow - ok. Um, maybe I WON'T show there then, cause I was going to show pullets. Though I wouldn't mind losing to birds like that!

You should really show just for the experience! Do you raise standards or bantams? My birds will be in the junior show

Oh, well, ok - sigh of relief. I've been showing for a few years at my home club in NJ. I only lately have had the opportunity to buy good birds and travel to shows. It's just amazing the quality and variety out there. I'll have been to hopefully five shows by the end of the year, but not showing at all. I was only going to visit the Frederick show, but everyone was saying that there would be a lot of cochins there. Though, I wouldn't want to go up against Kay St. Amour either. I do have two beautiful 5-month-old cochin pullets I just got from Jamie Matts in Cobleskill - they're so puffy I'm afraid to wash them! I have a good sized Partridge hen that I've shown, but since a couple of faults were pointed out to me at that show - meaning she's very good, but not "place" material, I think I'll retire her, or save her for my home club just to show the variety. I don't show for points - just for fun and to learn. I learn so much at every show, especially since I'm not afraid to walk up to strangers and ask questions. It's just so great hanging out with such friendly people like you find at the poultry shows.

So I'm assuming your showing at Sussex?

I reallly want to go, but I'lll be busy packing for my senior trip to Costa Rica, and Sussex is four hours away. Frederick is a nice 45 minute drive so that is my favorite show to drive to

I have a blue standard cockerel from Jamie and I'm pairing him up with my pullet line for next years breedings. He is a big baby!

Going up against Kay is very stiff competition. Her birds are

Cochinman2005...Looked at your website, gorgeous birds, bravo!

Not to cloud this thread but I would like to ask a genetic question? What could be expected from a brahma and cochin LF cross? Horrible mutts or something worth developing, in your opinion?
