All the hens have started laying....well almost. 12 hens and 15 eggs from last Wednesday to today.
So I am hoping and praying that Harriet is Harriet! I really don't want to have to build another pen and coop. Just built one for the BR rooster and am picking up his girls this week.

Am hoping GIRL is right!

So she's in with other hens, and you're just not sure if any of the eggs are hers? Is that correct? You could always separate her for a few days and wait, but relocation could stop any laying she's doing for a few days.
So, if you think she may already be laying, but aren't quite sure, and don't have any indications from her behavior or comb color, then is another way to find out. Very simple - you can measure the distance between her pubic bones. If she hasn't started laying yet, the bones will be close together - almost touching. If she's started laying, the bones will be farther apart (to let the egg pass thru) - usually about 1 - 2 finger widths apart. It's a very simple observation - you can feel everything from the outside of the bird.

Um...will wait on an egg. I am out there almost every morning. It is amazing to me how all the girls go into the coop to check on whoever is in the nest. Sometimes there have been three of them in different nests. It is enough that you think she might be a she for now. It would certainly explain things. Like the rooster. He really did not like the other rooster being in there. Before they all reached breeding age there were always scuffles. Never was he in on one. Still he/she is not a neck feather ruffler. And several times the last few days he would be in the coop when the hens are laying.

Will just keeping watch and try to catch her on a nest. I have a window that I go peek in to see if anyone is on a nest.

Thanks so much for all the input. This has been one confusing bird. Will post on a crow or an egg.

OK, I see you already have pics posted on My Pages from the BYC host. Good. To post uploaded pics into a thread, go to Uploads, then, in the lower right-hand corner, click on My Uploads. When you find the pic you want, go to the bottom Image line, and right click (it will highlight the URL link), and then hit copy. You now have the pic on your clipboard.

Now, when posting a reply in a thread, go to the beginning of a new line, and just hit paste. The link to your pic should be there now. Type in whatever text you want, then you can scroll down and hit Preview. Your reply should appear, with the pic inserted. If everything looks good, then scroll back down and hit Submit.

At least that's how I do it. I'm sure someone else has some other shortcuts, but this works for me. Hope it can work for you!

I stumbled upon this link of a European site(I think its European, I cant make out what it says LOL!) and thought I would share it here. There are some very pretty birds on this site in both frizzle and smooth. You can also look at pics of Standard Cochins that are posted on this site as well. You just have to find it. Lol! Check it out and see what you think.

Quick question what is an example of crow head? I have heard you do not want birds with crow head in your breeding program. Anyone have pictures to show?

Here's my favorite boy! This is Louis, well King Louis (we live close to Louisville, KY). This is the first day I brought him home, he's filled out much better over the summer. He's a proud daddy now of 11 chicks!
