I recently got a cochin bantam hen from a friend. She's HUGE. Is there a possibility of cochins being too fluffy?

Yes as it can interfere with fertility and natural breeding. As far as beauty it is hard to be too fluffy

My cochin babies came today!!!!

I ordered 2 Mottled, 2 Blues, and 2 Self Blues. I'm pretty sure I got 2 mottled. But then I have 3 with a blue color (cant tell which is which...) and then I got one that looks black. I will try to post pics soon, I wont be home today, but I will try to get some pics later.

Is there anything in their standard that says too fluffy is bad?

Fluffy wins! When evaluating a bird I look at the feathers. I don't want to see fluff ( unless a bird is molting) as it is an indication that the feathers are not wide enough. When I look at an individual feather on back or cushion I want to see at least half the feather length as fluff. Negative for fluff in the SOP.

Spoke to the breeder and she that it normal for her eggs to start that early?! I hadn't even taken them out of the turner yet so I hurried up and got them on their sides. I hear chirping and a few more are rocking around. Super excited!

2 of my Cochin chicks hatched today (day 18). I believe they are both gold lace Cochen. Are there any auto sexing or sex link traits I could look for at hatch?
