Cochin Thread!!!

Hatch day! So far three Cochins have hatched. Two blues and a black. All Giants.

Am I right in thinking that when you breed two blues together you'll get 50% blue 25% black and 25% splash?
This is my first time hatching from the Giants. The breeding pen concists of four blue hens, a blue rooster, and a black rooster.

Ok here's one I am curious on
Splash hen and black rooster give me which odds again? I have a blue hen with him as welland I know I could get any of the four colors from them but I forget the ratio with the splash.And thank you to who can tell me!

Here is one of the "penguin babies" as my preschool students called them all grown up! A year old and just started laying a couple months ago!

The Splash crossed with black will give 100% blue. The Blue with the black will give 50% blue and 50% black

You will only get from those colors black and blue no splash with black crossed over the splash as your rooster is Black

Which breed of duck? We tried two Kahki Campbells last year and once I seen them trying to drown my large Cochin aND a few others.. I rehomed the evil buggers.So looking out for a more gentle duck. You have reminded me I have yet to get a scale for my birds. Need to keep up on how heavy they are. Getting more Large Fowl breeds this year and quail.

You just happened to have the wrong breed of duck. Khaki Campbells are jerks. I keep call ducks with my chickens. Also, I used to have mallards and they do really well.

Those are soo cute congrats! I likewise have a hard time selling them as I want to keep them all. You enjoy all those adorable babies.
