Cochin Thread!!!

I have some blue chicks I'm trying to decide whether I should add to my splash pen once they grow up, or my mottled.

Eventually, the dark blue blotchy color in your Splashes will become washed out after several generations of Splash to Splash breeding. Breeding Blue to Splash will improve the color in the resulting Splash chicks and help to bring out the darker blotches which are desireable for the variety.

Thanks for the info!

Hitting the other cochin thread for more input on this. I am not sure either. with your show experience though , you are probably correct.

I showed two years ago though so I could be remembering wrong also lol Let me know what you find out, I would love to hear.

LF and bantam only is what they are saying from the other thread.

Some Cochin chicks I just hatched from my LF Blue Buff Cochins. These guys are for sale. :)

I have 2 six week old white cochins. Our little one is called Spirit, she looked like she was about to die but we dripped water into her mouth and then gave her a little honey and laid her on a heating pad separate from the other birds. Thankfully she made a full recovery.
Our other one doesn't yet have a name, we are beginning to wonder if hes a Roo as he seems to have a more prominent wattle.

All help kindly accepted, I've never kept cochins before.

First looks to be a cockerel, second one looks to be a pullet.
They're quite cute!

I purchased 6 blue Cochin from a broader several weeks ago. And admittedly know nothing about Cochins aside from knowing they are beautiful! At 41/2 weeks the one I believe to be a roo is finally getting enough feathers in that I can see they are barred. Is this possible from 2 blue parents? The others are varying shades of grey/blue and 1 solid black. What is he? He is the one in middle in the pic. I don't care what he is as I think he is adorable in his Pajamas lol. Thanks for any suggestions!
