Cochin Thread!!!

Does anyone know what happen with Star Cochins (Jerry Smith)? Website no longer up and phone number no longer in order. Was hoping they would be a Sunshine Classic again this year.

I went out and took these pictures last night. Thanks For the help

I have been living in denial for the last couple of weeks, but it can no longer be denied. I had 7 mottled cochins hatch about 2 months ago. One died soon after hatching. Of the 6 remaining, I have 5 boys and 1 girl!!!! (Sigh.) These were from really good stock, but.... 5 little roos don't do me much good. (But they sure are cute). I now have WAY too many little roos!

My mottled cochins always hatch out more roos than pullets, I've got a hen with 5 (she had 6 and lost 1). There are 3 cockerels and 2 pullets (I think) and the one she lost was another cockerel. I have another one in a 'big chick' brooder, another cockerel, then 3 in the house. Wouldn't surprise me much at all if they weren't all cockerels too!

I think that's the law of chickens, more cockerels than pullets

It always seems that I get more of the sex that I don't want, maybe I should trick them into thinking I need boys? All the mixed chicks running around are girls...like that does me any good!

I thought it was only me and my luck. I figured that meant someone out there had 5 girls and one roo to make up for my misfortune.
Maybe by May or June I will have some eggs of my own to try and hatch.
