If you're cleaning pens, feel free to head this way! My drive is 300' of solid ice. (North Central Ohio.)
On the good news, though, I went out to take care of the chickens this morning (2 LF Gold-Lace Cochin pullets, 1 LF Blue Cochin pullet, 1 LF Gold-Lace Wyandotte pullet and a LF Gold-Lace cockerel) and found *4* eggs. Over Thanksgiving, the Wyandotte laid for about 2 weeks until a really, really cold spell hit. She started laying about a week ago but this morning there were 4 eggs. I didn't get one yesterday so it's possible she was late, but clearly she didn't lay 4 eggs in a day and a half so it looks like the rest are getting the hang of the laying too. (3 of them were a quite a bit smaller so looks like they're all laying.) Now, if I could just convince them the nest box is a better spot than the floor and to get an incubator set up to hatch out the GL Cochin eggs.
