Cochin Thread!!!

In my little bit of experience, it really varies. My hatchery girls started laying between 5 and 6 months. My one breeder girl just started laying this month, at 9 months old.

Here are some pics of my cochin chick

The first one is also really mellow compared to the others and has a quieter peep!

Fattie--I like the 2nd from the top with black background where his head is tilted "rakishly". Plus I do love that spotted background !!! Is that Minkee Fabric?

How old is he?
Hate to say it, but if you compare his shape to the pics of the frizzle, blue, & barred a couple pages back, he doesn't have their nice, round body type. Sorry.

I don't have that much experience with chicks yet but could you take a picture of them both together?

I hate this feedback stuff. I know people say they want it, but it's never easy to give when it's not glowing. I have to say I agree with serendipity. His shape is long, meaning he's to short of leg and long in the back. He also appears to have some tawny color streaked in some places throughout his body. I've been told it is very hard to find a splash that doesn't have that problem. All things considered he's a flashy boy and very pretty.

I don't mean to butt in. But I've saw some of fattie's other posts and I have to say your improving

I've never saw a splash cochin that compares to the barreds not to mention the blacks or blues. I don't know why this is but I can't say I have. He does have some discoloration but the best of any breed in the splash variety have a discoloration problem. I see the discoloration problem alot on the Splash Silkied Ameraucanas.
