Ok this is intersting as in my large fowl cochins - one breeding created my current Roo that looks exactly like that and 2 buff hens also with blue tails - my friend is the one that i got my start from and he has never had that color combp pop up. His flock is Blues- Buffs - makes sense i guess?!?!

Yes! My Silkie, both my bantam cochins, and my Silkie/Cochin Cross are all VERY broody!
Can be very frustrating at times.

lol I have been wanting broody hens for over a year now! I have 30 laying hens and NONE of them are broody ones!

Ran out this morning to check on the chickens and boy we are having some weather today! Snow is blowing everywhere, the wind is really howling around 40-60 mph. (in town some places I heard it was up to 70) I bet they are glad they are in the garage!

Chicklet is the only one who wanted to come out and I didn't have time to crawl in and grab the others to take a photo this morning. So real quick, here is Chicklet. What do you think, Roo or Hen. If I had to suspect one of being a roo it would be Chicklet.

edited to add: sorry for my messy garage in the background! It's been a long winter, LOL.

I got a pair of birds from DANNY a couple weeks ago too - I'm head-over-heels in love with them, they're still young, but they're GORGEOUS and very sweet!

Need to go get a picture of the cockerel (he kept flying up out of his coop while I was trying to get pictures!), but here's the pullet, Abigail. She's filled in so much already in the short time I've had her - I can't WAIT to see what they look like a few months from now! I guess this kind of gives away the color project I'm working on this year!

And here's a new shot of my little Orlando - I just love this little guy, with his rear end all jacked up in the air! Not "correct" by any means, but he makes me smile!

Is that Blue or Self-blue (aka Lavender)

It's Blue, and should produce Blue-patterned and Black-patterned Columbians if I mate each of them to one of my regular Columbians. They're out of DANNY's Blue Mille Project, so the cockerel has a little bit of Buff shading leaking through, and they *could* be carrying mottled - nothing that can't be bred out in a couple of generations.
