Cochin Thread!!!

Cool, Stephanie, I didn't realize you were born in Belgium. You need to own some of these! I recently got into Porcelains.

And I am with others, pronouncing some breeds like d'Uccle gets me funny looks from breeders. I ask how they say it and every one of them has a different pronunciation. And these people show them so I thought they would know.
However, I have found most Cochin breeders local say it the same as I do, only new owners have different ways of saying it and I try not to giggle. I say Coach-in.

hey everyone,
I promised to post some pics of my new chicks. Sorry it took over a week to get it done, but here they are.

This is a group shot: There is a lavender and a splash (at this point, I'm not sure which is which), a partridge and a silver penciled, a white, a golden laced, and a lemon blue and 2 brown red. All are bantams. (This is NOT their home, this was just while I was cleaning out their brooder.)

This is the partridge.

Here is the golden laced.

And the Lemon Blue (from Candace)

And a Brown Red (also from Candace's Lemon Blues)

Some had wanted to see what the Lemon Blues looked like as chicks. As you see they just look like regular blues (or blacks) until they feather out. Then you will see what starts off looking like a little lace collar. I will do my best to take more photos and show them at that feathering out stage.
