Cochin Thread!!!

Thank you! We were happy that so many of our babies found new homes. Thanks to everyone who supported our feed bill! There was a 4-H girl who took an adult pair of milles (rooster's name is Jimmy), I don't remember her name, but hope she will keep me posted on how she does. She may get some mottles out of that pair; she was worried about the mille fleur pattern being non-standard.

What a great Chickenstock it was! Gets better every year. Opa's smoked chicken was fabulous, but we missed out on some to take home. Great food and great people.

I have 2 blue laced red bantam cochin hens that are free to anyone that would like to work on this project. they need to be bred to a gold laced roo and I don't have one. please pm me if you are interested and you can have them for the cost of shipping

Can someone help me with this? I bought a "Bantam Frizzled Cochin" from the feed store about 15 weeks ago and it was pretty feathered out. I guessed it to be about 2 weeks old. I got a Polish cockeral at the same time. He started crowing today.

Here are a couple of pictures from yesterday:

Well, I only have one green egg layer and she already laid today and her eggs are a light mint green. I went out to the coop this afternoon and found a tiny olive green egg in the nest box. Here's a picture of it next to Stella's light green egg:

Is it possible my Frizzled Cochin is part EE? Or could Stella have laid a tiny egg in a different color on the same day as a normal egg just a couple of hours later? I am stumped and appreciate any comments.

Hey all I just posted 4 auctions (last night) for frizzle bantam cochin cockerels. 3 are lemon blue, and 1 is brown red.

If you are interested in a pair, choose your cockerel and bid on him I can show you what pullets I have. I think I have enough to do 1 pullet with each roo. Smooth feather pullets will cost extra (+15$ to end price of auction for cockerel) but I am not selling any pullets without cockerels. If anyone is interested in seeing pullets, let me know and I will get some photos for you. If not -- the roos will go alone.

Here's my...hopefully little pullet..pretty sure she is a she...she made a nice little spot to lay in this day..she is 10 weeks old. Sweetheart!

Hi,

I have four buff cochins heavy about three months old and i was curious to know that how long does a cockerel take to grow his full comb.
I also have another question. Is there any age to weight chart available on the net for heavy cochin breed ?

Regards
RM
