Cochin Thread!!!

I've been out of town and away from a computer for 2 weeks. My DH took good care of my birds for me. I owe him much. The babies have grown so much I've got to spend tomorrow getting reaquainted with them and marvel at all the changes.

What color legs would a blue Cochin have? I have a blue frizzle and I'm trying to decide if it's a cochin. Thanks!

The shanks and toes of a Blue Cochin should be "swarthy yellow". Some refer to "swarthy" as dusky, dark or dirty yellow.

Oh okay. My pullet has black legs so she apperantely isn't a pure Cochin.

She could still be pure Cochin - just not with the correct leg color. You should post a pic of her.

She has little feathering on her legs, but I think they got pulled out, as she has patches of heavy feathering and some spots with few feathers on her feet. Her brother had heavy foot feathering. What do you think? Cochin?

Is anyone using Frontline Plus drops on their bantam Cochins? If so, how many drops per bird, where is the most effective placement of the drops, and how often are you re-applying?

I heard that the frontline drops are to concentrated for chickens? Not sure.. I have used the spray but it is impossible to get, everyone is sold out last time i checked..
