Cochin Thread!!!

I am looking for Show Quality Birchen Cochin Banties for one of my 4-H Kids. Preferably a trio. Does anyone here have any SQ currently for sale? Or can point me in the direction of who has the best of the best? Thanks!

You are right...it is always "a work in progress" when breeding for certain characteristics. The good thing with chickens is their quick incubation turn a round time. Job well done nontheless

I can't answer your question because I don't breed lemon blues...but I thought the same thing...Wow! Look at those feet!

They are really too young to tell yes, unless you have the obvious(leg color etc.). but ALWAY KEEP MORE THAN 1 ROO

If you keep only 1 and something happens to him you may find it hard to replace him. Personally, I would keep the best of each: Brown Red, Lemon Blue and Splash

Beautiful birds

We bought my sister some new cochins and I wanted some opinions. Be honest. You won't hurt my feelings. They were hatched in April

Frizzle cockerel

We have a smooth pullet as well but I'm having some uploading difficulties. I'll post both pics together later...

The Lemon Blue's are maturing and the rooster is bringing in more color all the time but I am only learning about this color and don't really know if keeping this darker rooster would be the best one to put on the two splash hens that I have. All from the same breeder who had pens of multiple birds/lines.

Here they are today exploring the sheep pen and enjoying all that hay. The BO is their flat mate.

Ok, I thought I had a birchen cochin chick, but today I was doing a once over on everyone and I noticed it has dark brown and black feathers coming in! Is there such thing as a Brown Red Cochin? And this one came from Ideal Poultry, they have no color matching it on the site (just the birchen chick color but now the feathers aren't matching)
The chick in question "BeeBoop"
