Cochin Thread!!!

My first thought about Dudley is that he is a bit too tall and a little sway back, however one thing to consider is might he be molting? I've seen some beautiful roosters look like this when they are in the middle of a molt, so if that is what is going on with him, you'll need to wait a couple of months or so before you can make a fair evaluation of him. As far a color is concerned you'll need to get that from someone else, like Mandy. I know there are some very specific things to look for, but I don't know enough about Mottled to be able to help you out with that.

here is a better pic of my roo. This is before he went to the coop last night.

He is not a Standard bird, he would be MUCH larger if so. He looks ok, but as mentioned, if he is molting then there isnt any accurate way to evaluate him at the moment. He doesnt look to be a shoq quality bird, but that doesnt mean that crossed over some nice hens he cant produce offspring better than himself. Also, if he is 7.5 months old, his color is way off. He shouldnt have that much white on him as a cockerel, that should develop over time with each molt and age.

These are my first cochin chicks. These pics were taken at 3 days old. They are now 6 weeks old. I need to take some update photos. The blues are especially beautiful right now.

Took a couple pics today of the up-an-coming coop I have. Its getting there, slowly but surely. Here it is about half way done, I have another row of cages that go on top of the ones on the right side of the coop. Also have more pens to build along the right side of the coop, starting where the cages that are there now end. Going to put another row on top of the pens along the left side as well and it will be finished. There is an exsisting frame that one of those cages used to sit on that is being turned into a brooder box for chicks. For now this is what it looks like.
