Cochin Thread!!!

Those are fantastic shots!!
Thanks Coopa Cabana, my sister took those pic's and I though I'd share them with everyone. I just love their contrast with the snow! :D Also Kate has been wanting to message you about Goldenlaced Cochins. We just started our own project last year on them using a decent GL hen and a birchen rooster who she hatched a trio out of. She was wondering if you had eggs or birds for sale. PM us if you get a chance. She and I love you birds and there's a woman around me also working on BLR's. April labmbert she's on BYC "xercysechick" I think is her user name.
That is too funny...I don't think I have ever seen that much snow...
I believe we got 18 inches! Quite allot. Especially for us having to shovel paths all around the yard. The paths make out backyard look more like an ant farm rather than a rabbit and chicken "Farm." The chickens hate all the snow but fortunately the rabbits love bounding around in it, digging and hiding.

So cute - conrgats.

I have some bantam & standard going into lockdown Friday.  I am sooooo so excited because these are my first from my boys & girls & fertility looks great!
Can't wait to see the little ones.

That is very exciting...I just checked my three bantam Cochins eggs and one out of the three is fertile...I was excited to see that...so now just waiting for the other two then I can set some eggs...

Looking for some more bantam Cochin's,what hatchery has the best bantam Cochin's? all of our Cochin's are show quality bought from different breeders but thought about maybe adding to them for possible breeding with hatchery birds and wanted the best I can get from a hatchery. It's tuff finding more quality Cochin's from breeders that will ship. Thanks Mike

If you have quality birds, the last thing I would suggest is to get something from a hatchery and cross over them. The only thing hatchery stock will do is breed major faults and variety patterns unwanted into your birds. It would more than likely be years before you could breed it out of them and get nice birds again.

if you want good birds, don't go to a hatchery... you'll end up backsliding in quality.

what colors are you looking for? there are a number of breeders on here that will ship. i can think of 3 or 4 off the top of my head i've gotten birds from over the last couple years.

i will add, getting chicks shipped isn't likely since most serious breeders want to grow them out some to be able to judge what they've hatched and decide which to keep.
