Looking for some more bantam Cochin's,what hatchery has the best bantam Cochin's? all of our Cochin's are show quality bought from different breeders but thought about maybe adding to them for possible breeding with hatchery birds and wanted the best I can get from a hatchery. It's tuff finding more quality Cochin's from breeders that will ship. Thanks Mike
Don't buy hatchery chicks! It's a huge mistake that many of us have made! I know that it is tuff finding what you want when you want it but it is so worth the wait.
If you breed a good quality bird to a poor quality bird you will end up breeding so many defects in that you will end up spending longer breeding those defects out.

it might be a bad idea to breed a prize chicken with one that has no experience that could cause lots of problems

I have to agree with all the other advice you have received. Crossing in hatchery stock can set you back several generations. Be patient - the stock you are looking for will come available. Most breeders don't have much stock available this time of year. Get on a waiting list for the fall. You will not only save time (years!) in the long run, but you will save frustration, headaches, and feed costs!

And if you don't already belong to Cochins International, be sure and join. Their Breeders Directory is your best source.
