I agree with Craig. I dont remove the spurs, I just cut them down and round them off. If they bleed, they have a powder you can get to stop it, or you can use sugar. I use sugar since its cheaper and readily available. I dont think there are any points for spurs, but a nice rounded spur just looks better to me, cleaner I guess you could say. To me, it helps make the birds appearance overall a little more polished. If I dont plan to show the bird I dont trim spurs, unless it becomes an issue for the bird. I wont tolerate an aggressive bird, so I have no worry of them injuring me. But, I do still like to have the ends rounded off, so they dont injure themselves or other birds. They tend to be a "billy-bad-*****" when they get moved around and see other males they arent used to seeing, have had birds get spurs caught in wire before and really hurt their leg before the spur pops off.
