Cochin Thread!!!

Oh how sweet!!
Your two babies are adorable, however they do not look like Cochins, but more like Porcelain D'uccles. Beside being the correct color for Porcelain D'uccles, they have muffs, and feathered feet. How many toes do they have, and where did you get them? TSC?

I've had D'uccles in the past and they are one of the sweetest chickens. You'll adore them.

Hummmmm...........I'm not sure I agree with you. They certainly have the d'Uccle color, however I don't see the muffs. There are a couple of positions where they look a little puffy, but I think it's just the camera angle and the number of toes have nothing to do with Cochin vs. d'Uccle. Also feathered feet are typical of both breeds.
I don't know, it will be interesting to see how they look in a month.

I will definately post pics as they grow. I wanted some broody hens, and it looks like either Cochin or D'Uccle are good.

Hmm, they are very cute but if they are hatchery cochins what color would they be? Do hatcheries have lemon blue? I would be surprised if TSC had lemon blue cochins....I have only ever seen black and buff cochin chicks at our TSC. Here is a link to cackle hatchery's pic of porcelain d'uccle chicks. http://www.cacklehatchery.com/aau0050.JPG

This little guy is a Cochin. I'm not sure what color though. This is the best picture I have right now. He does have feathers on his feet. What variety do you all think he is? He is a standard.

I suggest you post some pictures of your cuties over on the D'uccle thread. And do please post pictures of them in a month or so.

Hope this helps.

My slash cochin babies looked that color as babies. Chick to the very right.

Destin...are those Splash Cochins the ones you got from me?

Here is the lil Call duck girl I hatched from you last year~

She is the lil girl at the back, between the two drakes. Awful picture..sorry..I'll try and dig up a better one of her.

And please excuse the dirty ducks..we'd gotten a hailstorm, rain, and a blizzard that day....

Pictures I took of my Splash Cochin pair from FunkyFeather's line. They are so sweet and fluffy.
