Cochin Thread!!!

Hello!
I am looking to add some cochins to my flock. I am in Indiana and hoping to buy from a breeder. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, do most people seem to prefer the bantams over the standard size? Are the personalities a lot different?

I was looking at Ideal and Mypetchicken, but am worried I will wind up with all roos if I order a small quantity of straight run.

I just rationalize that if they are smaller, I can keep more chickens, and they eat and poop less. I got my pet quality flock from Ideal, and was really happy with them, as long as you aren't worried about them being up to all the cochin standards. I ordered two chicks of each bantam cochin color and had quite a pretty flock.

If you order standards you can order a small number of pullets because they can sex them. I've ordered bantams and standard Cochins from ideal in the past and I was really happy with their colors and personalities.

Thank you for the tips. I was looking at Ideal, MyPetChicken and Cackle, but I would really prefer to get from a breeder and it appears they are sold out anyways.
I am going to go to a Poultry Show I found coming up...Hopefully someone there can point me in the right direction.

My wishlist this year is:

Silkies(1 roo, 4-hens..B/B/S)

Standard Cohins(1 roo, 3 hens b/b/SB)

Black Frizzle Cochin Hen

Blue Ameracauna(real ones)

Not a hard list to fill, huh?
