I honestly have no place to set it up at anymore. If my place could ever get cleaned and organized for more than a day...

She looks to be a very young large fowl Barred Cochin. If it is a large fowl, I could be of on the sex but I don't think so. The truth of her color is that technically she is more of what is called a cuckoo, but I'm guessing since she is LF (just scrolled up and saw that you got her from a group of LF) the color could be a work in progress. And yes she appears more blue or silver or whatever they're calling that in this variety. She really looks to be kind of nice, definitely better than a hatchery bird. I'll bet she's very sweet. The person who would know absolutely about her sex is Tom Roebuck, but it's the height of breed/hatching season and I personally haven't seen Tom on line for a little while. I'm guessing he's up to his ears in chicks.
HA! One of these days she'll be as big as the turkey. Thanks for the info. I sure hope it is a pullet. the best I can estimate is I got her the end of March. I think her color is very pretty no matter what it is called. When I picked it out as a chick I was thinking blue. I do know that the feed store I got her from gets there chicks from Idea Poultry in Texas. When I was in this week he told me they would be getting Blue Pullets in May 11. I like her so much I may have to get another. Although I have told my self i was not going back again.
The have a couple of bantam Cochin who walk around the store and go broody and make their nest in a dog food bowel.I will be stalking y'alls pics to see what color catches my eye. I will keep posting pictures so y'all can tell me what you think about her. There is a pet livestock show here in October. I may let one of the kids use this sweet girl I say that and then think she is sweet, but has a attitude...
I believe she is telling the turkey to "Back of its hers..."
Quote: she is blue, the silver gene is primarily found in silver laced, silver penciled and birchen, turning red pigments to white.
here's a pic of my blue mottled roo i got from casey. such a sweet boy!
and yes casey, he IS mottled, as i've got a couple chicks from him and a mottled girl growing out. no good pics of them yet tho.
I am convinced. I will be ordering two of these one for the incubator and one as a hatcher. If I ever have a bigger operation I will get the GQF. I have been so tempted but thats a ways off for me.
I have been in the middle of so many debates on if you should or should not help. I have had great luck helping chicks hatch and only one nightmare. I just wish I could have been able to check sooner.
Thanks for posting!
Looks like a red, blue, and a black. I'm no expert just looking at colors. From my limited experience I don't know if the red is a cochin, but the last two do.Hi, I just picked up a few chicks at the feedstore to keep a singleton hatch silkie company. I only have Silkies so was trying to pick out Cochins and dont know for sure that is what I did. They have feathered feet, single comb and not bearded.. That was all I knew to look for. If someone could tell me if I picked right and identify colors I would appreciate itI went to get one and got two, ( just in case) and then my DH added in the reddish one
Thank you!
