You found a person that really understands quality poultry in Tom Roebuck. A good person but always so busy!So after a couple of false starts with purchasing some Bantam Cochins that weren't good type, I've finally got the foundation for my Cochin (LF) flock. I live very close to Tom Roebuck so I contacted him to see if he had a barred rooster and a couple of buff hens and a barred hen available. Turns out he did and I came home with them. Pics are poor (rainy, overcast day here and they were a bit skeptical of me and their new digs), but here they are. These will be for both a Buff Barred Project and Barred Cochins.
This a trio coming Wednesday of already started Buff Barred project to add to my flock.
After a year of wanting cochins but not finding the quality birds I wanted to start with, I'm excited to get started in LF Cochins.

that is a Blue Mottled and if you want SQ I'd start with Mandy Malin aka The Cochin Coop. The 3rd picture of the black and white chicken, what is that called and do u know where I can get them?
Ahhhhhh sorry Craig, I didn't read back to see that you had already answered that post, however I guess it says something that we gave her the exact same feedbackIf I have it right I would call that a Blue Mottled. I would go to Mandy Malin for chicks or birds like that. Because it is a mottled the pattern changes a little every molt. Getting more white in is as it ages.
Definitely not self-blue, however I'm not certain about Splash/Blue. I would guess VERY light Blue. How Pretty!! I just got started with the Cochins too. I have 2 blue and 1 black. Im not 100% sure but Im gonna guess u have a rooster. Im also guessing but he looks like a Self Blue, they are a lot lighter than a Blue.
Here is my Blue Rooster......He will be a year old in June.
& here is my hen
I hope Im right
